Note*: Watamu is a seaside resort on the Indian Ocean coast of Kenya. It lies on a small headland, between the Blue Lagoon and Watamu Bay. Its main industries are tourism and fishing. The nearest big town is Malindi to which it is connected by frequent matatu.
The shoreline in the area which features white sand beaches and offshore coral formations arranged in three bays: Watamu Bay, Blue Lagoon and Turtle Bay. They are protected as part of the Watamu Marine National Park. The Marine Park is considered to be one of the best snorkelling and diving areas on the East African coast.

Note**: Mida creek is a large creek lined with mangrove forest and renowned for its waders, kingfishers and crab plovers. Birdwatching, fishing, mangrove walks, and leisure boat trips can be arranged by several groups in Watamu. Waterskiing and other watersports are also available.
Mida Creek is large, from the spectacular entrance from the sea, with its dramatic water currents and coral outcrops, up to the far ends that are a tangled ribbon of channels and sandbanks, and the ideal places for wetland birds to feed at low tide. Approximately 6kms long, the creek has many narrower brackish and fresher tributaries where the waters are still and clear, and the mangrove forest is enveloping.
